AS A CONSTITUTIONAL, LEGITIMATE EXIT FROM POWER

July 5, 2002 - Venezuelan Independence Day

Dear Cuban Compatriots and Brothers:

Without violence, only respecting our constitution, the Referendum to revoke President Hugo Chavez’s mandate must be the first goal. The invasion of Cubans from the Castro regime into Venezuela is a danger to our national security. This second “literacy” plan is merely a pretext to bring in more pro-Castro Cuban militants.This is another provocation as part of the nightmare brought by the Chavez regime in Venezuela.

All they care about doing is to bring Communism into Venezuela and Latin America in general. The Chavez regime has already lost the support of the Venezuelan people, and is bringing in waves of militant pro-Castro Cubans so that they can pretend to be “Venezuelans”, infiltrate our armed forces, and to indoctrinate the country into Marxism.

We will not tolerate the meddling of our country’s internal affairs by functionaries of Cuba’s Castro regime, his Ministers, and the Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela. We will not be governed by Fidel Castro!!!!

We invite you to participate in our worthy, righteous protest. We will be there with Enthusiasm & strength, with much respect for planning our protest with dignity & Legitimacy. Remember that if we criticize the intolerance of our adversary, we ourselves must be tolerant; if we criticize totalitarianism, we must show it with our words.

We recite the words of Albert Camus, the French resistance leader, who excellently criticized the radicalism of both the left and the right, and wrote the following:

" Let us suppose that certain individuals resolve that they will consistently oppose to power the force of example; to authority, exhortation; to insult, friendly reasoning; to trickery, simple honor. Let us suppose they refuse all advantages of present-day society and accept only duties and obligations which bind them to others....Then I say that those individuals would be acting not as Utopians but as honest realist. They would be preparing the future and at the same time knocking down a few walls which imprison us today."
